Her birth name was Olga Aleksandrovna Ladyzhenskaya. Born on March 7, 1922, in Kologriv, RSFR to Anna Mikhailovna (mother) and Aleksandr Ladyzhenski (father), Olga was interested in mathematics since her early childhood days.

Her father, Aleksandr Ladyzhenskaya, was a mathematician by profession. On the other hand, Olga Ladyzhenskaya’s mother, Anna Mikhailova, was a homemaker. Her father, Aleksandr, inspired her to become a mathematician. Unfortunately for Olga, her father was conspired and arrested by the infamous NKVD and executed over public enemy charges.
