The star bid farewell in today, 16th of August transmission of Eye Witness news with her all of her anchor colleagues giving her a warm farewell. It was her co-anchor Ken Rosato who broke the news first and stating the reason for her leave as to pursue better opportunities. He then gave way to a small video montage tribute to Lori and her contribution in reporting some of the biggest stories like 9/11, Hurricane Sandy and Inauguration of former President Barrack Obama.
Then Lori herself spoke out with tearful eyes and a cracked voice, “I want to end this on a super high note,” she continued, “Let’s just say I’m shifting gears. Thanks for going on this incredible ride with me, and I know we’ll see each other again.” She was very grateful for her last words a large chunk dedicated to her viewers. We understand her strong connection with the viewer’s many of whom reacted to her leaving on Twitter and bid farewell.
Lori Stokes stumbled into the doors of the WABC-TV in 2000 where she started by presenting the 5 p.m. news after a short run in the morning news. She was selected as the co-anchor for Eye Witness News the Morning edition and has been an original co-anchor for the show.
She started off a little rocky with co-anchor Rob Hanrahan as the show’s ratings plummeted from their number 1 ratings. Luckily, a smart replacement of Hanrahan with Steve Bartelstein did much better and brought the program back to its first rank in ratings. They eventually even took over Eye Witness News The Noon edition.
