Born in Holland in 1959 in\u00a0the Netherlands, Tony Beets is one of Canada’s most loved gold miners. Tony\u00a0and his wife gained their fame when they joined Discovery Channel’s ‘Gold Rush’. Beets moved to Canada many years ago, and he’s been working as a gold miner for more than 30 years. He has his own gold mine and company, called Tamarack Gold Resources Inc.<\/a>\u00a0The mine is in Paradise Hill,\u00a0in the Klondike. Tony Beets hires local teenagers to work at his mine. His daughter, Monica, as well as his son, Kevin and his loving wife, Minnie, all work alongside Tony every season.<\/p>\n

Tony Beets’ married life<\/h2>\n

Tony is married to Minnie Beets. They met many years ago when Tony was only seven years old. Minnie was living with her parents and her 4 siblings in a small town in Holland. Her parents were owned a small bakery and when Minnie was 6, a new family moved into town, near the bakery. Tony Beets was part of this family and he was only one year older than Minnie. He was also a naughty kid. Little did Minnie know, that cheeky kid would one day ask her to be his wife. The two started dating 14 years later when Minnie was 20 years old. Not long after they started dating, the two got married. Freshly married, the young husband and wife did not plan to stay in Holland for long. They moved to Canada, where they\u00a0created a family and are still living with their daughters and sons.<\/p>\n

Short bio<\/h2>\n

Tony Beets was born in 1959 in a town called Wijdenes in Holland, as the son of Klaus Beets and his wife, Magda. As a boy, Tony lived on a farm with his family. He lost his father at the age of 15. After his father’s death, Tony became the family’s leader and had to take farming matters into his own hands. He ended up having to manage people who were even twice as old as him. He married Minnie at the age of 21. Skeptical about farming in Holland, Tony moved with his wife to Canada. Shortly after arriving in Canada, he heard about gold mining. In a few months, Tony got a job at a gold mine in Yukon.<\/p>\n

Tony and his wife have two daughters, named Bianca and \u00a0Monica. They also have two sons, Kevin and Mike. Tony’s daughter, Monica, started working at the mine at the young age of 12. Her father initiated her by putting her in a front-end loader and telling her to figure it out. He then left, and a while later, he returned to find his daughter manevrating the machine with ease. At the age of 18, Monica was already bossing people around. She said that the workers had to take her seriously because, first of all, she knew what she was talking about, and second, she was Tony’s daughter. Tony’s son, Mike, also started working at a very young age. By the age of 19, Kevin was already running crews at the mine. Tony and his wife had a third daughter in 1992, but she died as an infant.<\/p>\n
